Digital to Analog Converter ("DAC")
New Product Coming Fall 2025!
The Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) is a unit that converts various signal types into analog signals used by traditional analog gauges. The DAC is intended to be used with any standard analog gauges- whether they are stock/OEM or aftermarket!
Input:
- The DAC can accept all of the data or sensor input types used by the standard OneGauge product.
- Analog (1 or 2 wire temperature or pressure) sensors: the DAC can convert or re-scale one type of temperature or pressure sensor to match the scaling or calibration of your gauges
- Digital pressure sensors or digital temperature sensors: the DAC converts a high-accuracy digital signal into a standard analog signal for your gauges
- Other voltage or sensor inputs: AFR/Oxygen sensors or controllers, voltage inputs, etc. can be displayed
- CAN Bus inputs from an aftermarket ECU (see the ECU support article): collect data from an aftermarket ECU like Holley, Haltech, Megasquirt, and many more and display it on standard analog gauges
- OBD-II data from a stock ECU
Output:
- The DAC’s outputs are completely configurable using an included touchscreen LCD screen. The menu on the LCD allows the range of the gauge to be set up based on the user’s needs.
- For example, if your stock analog temperature gauge reads “Low” and “High” you could set the low needle position to be 0, 50, or 100° and the high position to be 190, 220, or 250°, or any other value you choose! Units (Celsius/Fahrenheit) are also selectable on the menu screen.
- You can also customize gauge inputs and outputs- for example, want to display transmission temperature on your stock oil pressure gauge? Totally possible! Any input can be mapped to the 4 available outputs on the OneGauge DAC and then programmed for use with any analog gauge.
- Once you’re done programming the setup the LCD screen can be removed and stored away.
Capabilities:
- 4 programmable standard gauge outputs – typically used for temperature, pressure, or fuel level gauges
- 2 programmable variable frequency outputs for tachometer or speedometer signals (please see the Tach/Speedo section of this wiki)
- 4x analog inputs (1 or 2 wire sensors), 4x 0-5v pressure or Oxygen sensor inputs, 4x digital temperature sensor inputs (DS18B20 sensors only), 3x 0-25v voltage inputs, and 2x variable frequency inputs (intended for RPM, Ethanol content, VSS, or other variable signals)
- Included 3″ LCD screen for basic setup (removable)
- Optional upgrades to include Bluetooth communication to an Android app (to display sensor data only), Can Bus or OBD-II inputs, GPS inputs, and more
Installation:
The DAC includes screw terminals where the sensor connection to your instrument cluster or gauge can be wired. For example, if connecting the DAC to an aftermarket temperature gauge, the signal wire, or the wire that would have connected to the sensor/sender for the gauge, would be connected directly to the DAC. Then using the included LCD touchscreen the range of the sensor and gauge can be custom configured to display data as defined by the user.
Notes/compatibility:
The DAC is not intended for use with newer digital or CAN Bus instrument clusters or gauges. Vehicles began using more modern digital clusters in the 2000’s – before that instrument clusters were analog. Analog clusters are typically simpler (no screens, just needle style gauges) where each gauge is fed by a wired connection to a sensor or sender.
